Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs, 56, Dies

News spreads across the world about Jobs' death.

One month after stepping down as chief executive, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has passed away.

The New York Times reported:

Mr. Jobs stepped down from the chief executive role in late August, saying he could no longer fulfill his duties, and became chairman. He underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2004, and received a liver transplant in 2009.

In a statement, Apple said “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. If you would like to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences, please email rememberingsteve@apple.com."

Here is the Times' full Steve Jobs obit.

The news comes just one day after the company announced its latest product, the iPhone 4S.

I only started to use Apple products over the past year or so, and they’ve improved my life considerably. That's the impact great innovators and businessmen have on our lives, and we should all pay homage to them for this—as they selfishly earn million$/ billion$ in the process. Thank you, Steve Jobs! R.I.P.

When I was about to buy my first computer, PCs had flickering letter and numbers. I didn't have a clue as to how I might work it. But the little Mac had a device to make the icons 'do' things. This I could understand. That was almost 25 years ago. I've been devoted to Mac products since --- iMac, iPad, iPhone. Steve Jobs was an incredible visionary who changed the way we work, the way we think and the way we interact with each other.

Steve Jobs was one of the great visionaries of our time, and he was kept alive this long thanks to an organ transplant. It should serve as a reminder to fill out our donor cards. Who knows what people can accomplish in those extra years?
