Fashion Boutique Suite 275 Wears a Winning Look

The shop wins the latest Golden Storefront Award.

Just two months after opening its doors on Lower Main Street, selling trendy looks at recession-friendly prices, fashion emporium is sporting an accessory money can’t buy: a Golden Storefront Award.

The beautification award, a joint effort of civic groups  and the , is given each month to a local business or entity selected by the voting public.

Suite 275 may be new on the Port Washington retail scene, but it offers something decidedly old-fashioned: price tags in the double-digits, with virtually every item in the expansive shop retailing for under $100.

“It fits a niche that had disappeared in the last 20 years,” said Roy Smitheimer, executive director of the BID. “It’s a mercantile business with reasonable prices that almost everyone can afford.”

The store, which is owned and managed by Port resident and Schreiber grad Aylin Hassan, has an understated, luxurious look that belies the down-to-earth price tags. An all-white and cream décor is adorned with silver mirrors and accessories. The three changing rooms each wear a swath of silver flocked velvet in a zebra pattern in lieu of doors. The rear of the store boats a chaise lounge and two plush chairs for shoppers needing to rest tired feet.

Hassan regularly changes the mannequins in her store’s oversized front windows. “I try and change it all the time,” said Hassan. “I try and keep it fresh and attractive. I’m hoping people notice I’m here.”

“I hope this award gets people here,” said Residents Executive Director Mindy Germain. “This is exactly the type of store we need. It’s amazing in terms of the décor, the price point, and they even offer extras like wrapping.”
