Hole in One for PWEF Spring Outing

The event supported an 'extremely worthwhile cause.'

Plaid pants, tennis whites and yoga tops were the outfits de rigueur at the Port Washington Education Foundation’s Golf & Tennis Outing on May 7.

The event scored high marks from participants.

“The PWEF did an outstanding job of putting together three diverse activities into one spectacular day," said Ed Slade, PWEF supporter and generous funder of many PWEF-related programs, including WDOT Radio station at and the PWEF Education Support Center.

Slade elaborated: "Golf, tennis and boot camp all rolled up into a very enjoyable active day with terrific results for an extremely worthwhile cause.  I personally had a wonderful time.” 

Clouds cleared, the sun peaked through and 150 PWEF supporters enjoyed a fun day playing 18 holes of golf or a tennis round robin or running hills and doing push-ups at the . General Manager, Ed Ronan was very generous, offering time, talent and staff on a day typically closed to play.

Steve Panzik, owner of and director of , coordinated the PWEF Boot Camp. Everyone played hard and really earned those cookies served at lunch!

All agreed this event offered a chance to enjoy a day outdoors, while learning about and supporting the good work of the PWEF. Attendees included, Schools Superintendent Dr. Geoffrey Gordon, BOE members Karen Sloan, Larry Greenstein, and Alan Baer, Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos.  Thank you to all our guests and to the many generous event and raffle sponsors. Because of your support, the spring Outing was a success…and a successful event equals funding for more PWEF grants for our children. A win-win all around!

The Port Washington Education Foundation is an independent, non-profit, community-based organization.
