June 2: Film Fest Screenings in Port Washington

The schedule and a description of the films at Clearview Cinema Thursday.

Here's the for Thursday in Port Washington. Also listed is the festival's description of each film. Ticket prices are $15, $12 for seniors and students.

3:30 p.m.:  "Rejoice and Shout." This film traces the evolution of Gospel through its many musical styles: the spirituals and early hymns, the four-part harmony-based quartets, the integration of blues and swing into Gospel, the emergence of Soul, and the blending of Rap and Hip Hop elements.

4 p.m.: "Outside Industry." Chronicling the 25 year span of South by Southwest, the film tells the story of how four guys living on next to nothing created a music event in the hopes of giving bands a way to connect with music insiders. The result was the biggest music industry event in the world.

6:30 p.m.: "Limelight." As the owner of legendary hotspots like Limelight, Tunnel, Palladium, and Club USA, Peter Gatien was the king of the New York club scene. This exuberant documentary charts Gatien's rise and fall against the transformation of New York City, offering a wild ride through a now-closed chapter in the history of New York City nightlife.

7 p.m.: "Best and Brightest." Set in the world of New York City's elite private kindergartens, The Best and the Brightest centers on a fresh-faced young couple, Samantha and Jeff, who have only recently moved into town. The comedy centers on their dawning realization of the lengths they must go to in order to get their five-year-old daughter into school. Cast member Jenna Stern along with one of the producers is scheduled to attend this screening.

9:30 p.m. "Little Sparrows." Three sisters. Nina is widowed with two young children. Anna is an aspiring actress unhappily married to a filmmaker. Christine is a med student who has yet to fully come to terms with her sexuality. When their mother Susan's breast cancer returns, the family is faced with the reality of their last Christmas together. 

10 p.m.: "Tabloid." Morris follows the salacious adventures of Miss Wyoming Joyce McKinney, a beauty queen with an IQ of 168 whose single-minded devotion to the man of her dreams leads her across the globe, into jail, and onto the front page.
