June 3: Film Fest Screenings in Port Washington

Here's the  for Friday in Port Washington. Also listed is the festival's description of each film. Today's roundup also includes a screening of "Chasing Madoff," in Manhasset. 3 p.m. "The Flaw." People all over the world are still struggling with the aftermath of the greatest financial crisis since the Wall Street Crash of 1929. We all know what the effects have been, but what exactly was the cause? This documentary argues that the roots of the crisis lie in the changing relationship between the rich and the rest in American society. Directed by David Sington.

4 p.m. "Food Stamped." An informative and humorous documentary film following a couple as they attempt to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet on a food stamp budget. Winner, Jury Feature Prize at the 2011 San Francisco Independent Film Festival. Directed by Shira Potash. Filmmaker scheduled to attend.

6 p.m. "Lucky." It seems like a dream come true when Ben Keller wins the Iowa state lottery but for everyone else in his life, it's the beginning of darkly comic nightmare. With 36 million dollars at his disposal, Ben has the new-found confidence to pursue his life-long crush, Lucy St. Martin. But can all the money in the world compensate for the fact that Ben is a fledgling serial killer? As their relationship spirals out of control, and the body count rises, Lucy and Ben do all they can to survive love, marriage and each other. Stars Colin Hanks, Ari Graynor, Ann-Margret, Jeffrey Tambor. Directed by Gil Cates Jr. 

7 p.m. "Just Like Us." The director takes us on a hilarious tour from Dubai to Beirut, Riyadh to New York with a gaggle of other stand-up talent. Along the way, taboos of culture and geopolitics are exploded, and a younger generation of both comedy talents and audiences is born. Directed by Ahmed Ahmed.

9 p.m. "Page One: Inside The New York Times." This documentary deftly gains unprecedented access to the New York Times newsroom and the inner workings of the media desk. With the internet surpassing print as our main news source and newspapers all over the country going bankrupt, "Page One" chronicles the transformation of the media industry at its time of greatest turmoil. Directed by Andrew Rossi.

10 p.m. "Crime After Crime." This exclusive documentary film on the legal battle to free Debbie Peagler from prison after over two decades behind bars for her role in the murder of the man who abused her. The Washington Post says it's Harrowing, moving and inspiring, while the LA Times simply calls it "a must-see film." Directed by Yoav Potash.

6:30 p.m. "Chasing Madoff." The compelling story of Harry Markopolos and his team of investigator's 10-year struggle to expose the harrowing truth behind the infamous Madoff scandal when no one would listen. Directed by: Jeff Prosserman. Filmmaker scheduled to attend.
