North Hempstead Board Welcomes DeGiorgio, Kaplan

A majority of women now comprise the town council.

The board welcomed its two newest councilwomen, Dina DeGiorgio (R-Port Washington) and Anna Kaplan (D-Great Neck), on Tuesday night during the board meeting.

"As we have new people coming onto the board, we wanted to welcome them," Supervisor Jon Kaiman. "I think that not only is the Town of North Hempstead an extraordinary place to live, it's most certainly an extraordinary place to have the responsibility of governing. All of us who bear this responsibility take it seriously and I know that you do and will as well."

DiGeorgio beat former in November and Anna Kaplan was elected to her position at the same time replacing former Councilwoman Maria-Christina Poons.
