Community Chest Holds A 'Turkey Trot' Sponsors Breakfast

The big race is just weeks away.

The Thanksgiving Day Run, affectionally called the "Turkey Trot," is on for Nov. 24. More than 2,200 athletes are expected to participate.

With the race just weeks away, the Port Washington Community Chest, which organizes the event, held a sponsor breakfast Thursday morning.

The race – a five mile course through Port – is the biggest annual fundraiser for the Community Chest, which raise funds for distribution to local charities dedicated to improving people’s lives.

To register, visit www.PortChest.org, where you can download an application and mail in. Or register online at www.Active.com

The price of advance registrations (received by Nov. 21) is $35 for adults and $25 for youngsters 18 years old and under.  “Run Day” registrations for adults will increase to $50, although the youth rate will remain $25.  Registrants using the online service Active.com will pay an additional convenience charge. Register by Nov. 14 to ensure to receive a commemorative tee-shirt in the size desired.

All proceeds from race fees, sponsorships and contributions are fully tax deductible. Learn more about the race.
