Police Investigate Bomb Threat On Main Street

The threat, reported at Astoria Federal Savings, was unfounded.

Authorities found nothing threatening at Astoria Federal Savings Wednesday after a morning bomb threat prompted the cordoning off of sections of Main Street around the bank.

"At approximately 8:43 a.m. a bomb threat was reported at Astoria Federal Savings Bank at 110 Main Street," said Assistant Police Chief James Salerno.

First responders including the Port Washington Police District and Port Washington Fire Department were on the scene.

The threat, Salerno said, was unfounded.

Main Street was reopened by 11:40 a.m. The investigation is ongoing, Salerno said.

Great response to the threat by the PWPD and PWFD. We are fortunate to have such fine trained personnel available to protect our community from such a threat by putting themselves directly in harms way.
