Port Washington Education Foundation Funds 26 Grants

The grants support programs and projects for local students.

The Port Washington Education Foundation (PWEF) is back at school and funding 26 educational grants to 7,000 Port students this year. These grants offer students and staff a chance to think outside of the box in creative, innovative and smart ways. PWEF grants reach all Port students in grades K-12 annually. Delivering opportunity by way of a dynamic guest speaker (Civil Rights icon, Ruby Bridges), new technology (Smart Boards), Arts funding (Dallas Brass) and community service projects (refurbishment of the Guggenheim Preserve). Students, schools and staff all benefit from the PWEF connection!

This year’s projects include, updating and reopening the Schreiber TV Studio, engaging in a study of Blues music at Weber and participating in Expressive Elocution classes in the elementary schools. A complete grants list is available on the PWEF website.

Get involved! Join PWEF supporters for The Amazing Race, an adult-only scavenger hunt on Saturday, October 13th. Teams travel along Port Blvd. and Main Street tackling fun tasks on the way. Event info at: ww.PWEF.org.

The Port Washington Education Foundation is an independent, non-profit, community-based organization. The Foundation supports initiatives that enhance and expand educational opportunities over and above basic educational needs for all students in the Port Washington public schools.
