PWFD Knocks Down Fire On Port Washington Blvd.

Manhasset-Lakeville also on the scene.

Rescuers were on the scene responding to reports of a working structure fire at 666 Port Washington Blvd., the home of the popular Thursday morning.

By 10 a.m., firefighters were seen on the roof to ventilate the building. The fire appeared to be knocked down.

"We believe the fire was electrical" and may have started in the ceiling, said Geoffrey P. Cole.

Two firefighters were slightly injured, but did not require hospitalization, Cole said. 

A Long Island Power Authority emergency vehicle was also on the scene. Traffic on Port Washington Blvd. was backed up in both directions, particularly for vehicles heading north.

The case has been turned over for further investigation to the Nassau County Fire Marshal, Building Department, Nassau County Health Department, and the New York State Department of Agriculture, Cole said.
