They caved into right wing political pressure and ignored their health mandate. Their reversal was half-hearted and they need to replace the Board and get rid of Karen Handel, the organization's senior vice president for public policy. She ran as a pro-lifer for governor of Georgia and was endorsed by Palin.

Ms. Handel embodies the addage. 'The personal is political.' As a female resident of Long Island, home to the highest cancer rates in the nation this audacious act of personal/political sabotage on behalf of Ms. Handel to even consider removing any funding to any organization conducting Breast cancer screening is a slap in the face to the millions of dollars dedicated women and their families across Long Island raise for this organization. I for one, will never donate to the Komen fund again and as act of solidarity Long Island contributions to the Komen fund should be suspended until Ms. Handel apologizes to the region that leads the nation in breast cancer. Additionally, our senators should mandate an audit of The Komen fund to verify that monies are not being siphoned off to causes that support the issues Ms. Handel deems more 'worthy' than what the Komen fund was originally created for.

It will be interesting to see how the reaction plays out. Seems like this story isn't over yet.
