Question Of The Day: Small Business Saturday
Will you make an extra effort to shop at a small business on Saturday?
Saturday marks the second annual Small Business Saturday, a campaign sponsored by American Express that encourages shoppers to buy at their favorite local retailer to help fuel the economy.
But if that's not reason enough to shop at a local small business, here's another incentive.
"American Express is offering $25 credit to Amex customers who use their Amex with small businesses on Saturday," said Leslie Stern, of Dolphin Bookshop.
Check the full details on receiving that $25 credit.
Many local shops accept American Express, including Port Washington Florist. Dolphin will feature signage to promote the event.

Felt great shopping at unleashed ... will be visiting Dolphin shortly. It's worth it to pay a little more and keep these Port Washington gems in business. How sad it is to see empty storefronts! It would be great to attract more unique businesses to our main street by supporting those we have!

Yes sadly because of predatory practices by parking violations it won't be in our town.

For twenty-five cents you'll cut off your nose in spite and drive to where? Get a grip.

I do have a grip do you think I am alone,I always put money in the meter we have friends that put money in the meters I spoke of predatory parking violations where one gets a ticket for a long line in a store that they use to make a purchase, neighbors who go to Stop and Shop or King Kullen to shop as opposed to continually being on watch for a 55 dollar ticket, you get a grip.

I never see the parking enforcement or PWPD ticket the Port Washington residents who park in Handicapped Parking spaces here in town in fact I hardly ever see any TNH parking enforcment or Port Washington Police Officers doing anything around here.
For a long time I used to see a Port Washington Police Officer at the corner of Prospect Ave and Main Street ready to nail drivers who blow through the stop sign but that has stopped I never see a police car/officer here.

I am purchasing all my gifts from small businesses this year.
Never had a problem with a parking meter on Main Street, but then again 1-2 hours is plenty for me.
