We live on the Terrace and the Turkey Trot has always posed problems for us on Thanksgiving mornings. When my children were young and we had to travel to Ct, we would leave the house before 8:00 AM so we did not get stuck. A few years ago my nephew had a 10:00 AM football game in the Bronx. We left our house at 8:30 but got stuck at the barricade at Harbor Hills and MIddle Neck Rd. As a result we missed the first half. And a few years ago my son in law arrived at LaGuardia around 8:00 AM but we could not get back to our house until after 10.30. As much as I like the concept of the event, I wish they could find an alternate route that did not disrupt traffic and the lives of so many people who are "trapped" for over two hours on Thanksgiving morning.

This is like the 27th year of this wonderful community event. It seems as if the residents who know their roads are going to be blocked have ample opportunity to make plans accordingly.
