Summer Fiesta at Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation

Locals learn about programs and services.

It was summer fiesta time and a day packed with information at The  in Port Washington.

Held on Thursday, Aug. 4, this annual community outreach event provided information to Long Islanders. Here, they accessed information from health and eldercare professionals on programs and services for mental, physical, financial and cognitive health either for themselves, their loved ones and friends.

Attendees also learned about LIAF's new brain fitness program, for those cognitively well and wish to remain cognitively well to maintain their mental sharpness in the future.

According to LIAF, the number of people diagnosed with Alzheimer's or dementia is expected to soar in the next few years. In a proactive measure, the organization is eager to spread the word about its programs, along with programs and services through other organizations. This way, the organization says, Long Islanders have resources to help reduce stress, enhance their mental & cognitive health, and enable them to be better equipped to successfully age in place.
