The Real Deal on Real Estate: The Picturesque Village of Port Washington North
Port Washington North is an attractive community offering affordable homes and proximity to a variety of services.
This is Part Four in a weekly series on the many different neighborhoods of Port Washington.
Port Washington North is somewhat of a misnomer as it is in the center of Port Washington, bordered by Sands Point on the north, the hamlet of Port Washington on the east, Baxter Estates on the south, and Manorhaven on the west.
It contains smaller neighborhoods like Soundview, and the homes are (relatively) affordable throughout the village, generally in the mid-$700s. The adult condo community of Mill Pond Acres is located here, and those units cost considerably more. If you can afford a condo at Mill Pond Acres, the bucolic setting makes it a great retirement community.
Port Washington North has every sort of service available, and probably no more than 10 minutes away wherever you are located in the village, including restaurants of every ethnicity, a movie theater, supermarkets, salons, cleaners and other services. If you enjoy movies, remember that if you have all three services from Optimum, you can see movies for free at the Soundview Cinema every Tuesday and at reduced prices the rest of the week. This is great, especially if you have kids!
One of my favorite spots in Port Washington North is Mill Pond. A wonderful advantage of living in Port is being able to pass beautiful ponds like this when going in and out of town. I'm always taking photos of these picturesque places and posting them on my Facebook page and blog.
Bay Walk Park is also a wonderful amenity along Shore Road facing Manhasset Bay. The area has just recently been renovated with the goal of providing a place for residents to walk, jog or ride a bicycle while enjoying the beautiful views of the bay. There is a Phase 2 to this project, which will include some further renovation and possibly replacing the southern pier.
I think that the appeal of Port Washington North lies in the relatively reasonable home prices, with beautiful quiet natural beauty and a bustling business community all within convenient reach.

One of my favorite spots in Port Washington North was Mill Pond as well...... If you are thinking about buying property in the Village of Port Washington North, be aware that the Village is lax in responding to complaints by residents in The Village of Port Washington North about overcrowded housing, noise complaints and work being done on properties in the Village without proper permits.
