Particularly out of line since it's a shared-use puddle for camp groups splashing, not a good poolRead More venue for individuals swimming.
jonathan winant June 16, 2013 at 03:17 pm
The TONH should be under some investigation for charging such a high fee for a very short summerRead More season. You lose most of june and the pool closes in early September. Better off paying as you go just purchase the parking permit which is good at the Manorhaven Pool and the Harbor beach. Stop buying a season pass in protest to the yearly excessive price increase.
Nassau Taxpayer June 16, 2013 at 04:29 pm
And speaking of investigations, what's up with Jonny's Roslyn CC fiasco?
sadeto June 10, 2013 at 05:00 pm
Contact the Village and the water district, it's probably a problem with a pipe on your street.

We had discolored water on Hickory also.

I'm fairly new to Patch, so I do not know what the format used to be like. Overall, I find that itRead More is very easy to navigate around the site, and the format is fairly simple. I've been on websites way more complicated and confusing before than Patch. Thank you to those who design, organize and update this site for the good of the community.
Ron Beitler June 18, 2013 at 11:22 am
Comment threads NEED reply to, allowing ppl to reply directly to certain posts and keep itRead More immediately under that post. Otherwise you have endless single streams of cluttered threads. It's a simple housekeeping item that needs to be fixed. Also you need to be able to "return" space to start new paragraphs. Without that long posts tend to run on and on and on. People use patch to engage in higher level discussion then your 140 or whatever character tweet so you need certain formatting options in comments like the ability to have paragraphs. Just my 2 cents.
jonathan winant June 18, 2013 at 03:14 pm
My observation is that since the remake of the site some of the people who had great insight aboutRead More local issues are no longer commenting. That's just too bad.

Thanks Jonathan!

We love you Adina. You have done so much for Port - buzzing here and there, being so supportive ofRead More the many non-profit efforts in the community and shining a light on important issues. Glad you are still involved!

I hope the closing is only temporary. I purchased milk and other items from Dairy Barn for manyRead More years. Always got good quality products. Never had a problem.
Bryan Jay May 29, 2013 at 02:57 pm
I hope some company sees the value of having a similar business at that spot. With the driveRead More through, it makes it such a convenience for the people in this town, especially with families. I also really miss the Oakdale products which were superior!
Nassau Taxpayer May 29, 2013 at 03:01 pm
The folks still trying (for 2 years) to open a car wash on Willowdale/Beechwood should re-purposeRead More that site for or add on a drive-thru convenience sales operation.
Nassau Taxpayer May 29, 2013 at 11:32 am
Fact: after an obvious attempt at fraud, PWUFSD voter rolls were flushed and replaced with theRead More Nassau County voter roll. It's was a "Common Sense Plan", and you know all about that. Take your own advice.
Richard Sussman May 29, 2013 at 12:09 pm
Any more lies you wish to say?
Nassau Taxpayer May 29, 2013 at 05:08 pm
"Any more lies..."? And whose would those be? The sorry, multi-year record speaks forRead More itself, and continues: "Sussman and Zimmerman's Plan... For the first time, Mr. Sussman and Mr. Zimmerman disclosed their own long-term facilities plan. ... Common Sense Plan for Around $30 Million ... Here's the Difference: The BOE Plan ... Common Sense Plan $85,000,000 ... about $30,000,000 ... 5300 Students ... 5940 students ... No POOL! ... includes POOL! " http://www.antonnews.com/portwashingtonnews/2000/01/14/news/ "Mr. Sussman's way, has always been to tell half truths and to make personal attacks in order to get his way. Such was the case during last year's debate over the proposed School Bond. Then in concert with Mr. Zimmerman (with whom he is now, not surprisingly at odds) he offered up his so-called "Common Sense Plan," his low cost alternative to the bond, which would provide exactly the same services as the proposed bond. I haven't seen hide nor hair of the "Common Sense Plan" from our "construction expert" since the bond went down to defeat in May. Could that be because as I wrote on these pages, back in the spring, Mr. Sussman just could not do what he said he could in the "Common Sense Plan", for the price he said he could do it for? It seems that the high school is still estimated to cost $20 million a far cry from the $7 million in the "Common Sense Plan." http://www.antonnews.com/portwashingtonnews/2000/12/08/opinion/letter.html No, the fallacy and disingenuous "Common Sense Plan" and legacy of performance as a BOE member speak for themselves, and "it's not rocket science" why: "It is extremely unfortunate when decision making that concerns our children's education degenerates into physical violence and inappropriate and childish game playing." http://www.antonnews.com/portwashingtonnews/2001/05/18/news/ "One dispute occurred during the evening when Alison White asked candidate and former School Board President Richard Sussman about a comment made by NYS Commissioner of Education Mills, when he passed down his ruling of Dec. 23, 2002 on whether or not the district had to pay Mr. Sussman's legal bills resulting from his conflicts with board member John Zimmerman. The commissioner had written that Mr. Sussman "engaged in conduct inappropriate for a school board member."" http://www.antonnews.com/portwashingtonnews/2004/05/14/news/candsnite.html

if we are going to sell off our 40 spot lot why not advocate for the LIRR to chip in and helpRead More building the 2 or 3 story parking lot on Haven? with more trains and more population we need more parking. we are fooling ourselves that this is not a "Hicksville" type train station. we are a main hub and it needs a substantial parking lot that will help commuter parking and help retail parking in the main lots off of main street. anyone who does not want that parking lot built needs to really ask themselves why not. if we can build a new car wash on a main cut through street for no reason we can get this done with the same traffic nightmares!!! BTW during construction which im sure will take at least a year. where will those people park? in the other lots, so us who take the 808 train will get screwed bc we will not have a place to park now.
Nassau Taxpayer May 23, 2013 at 12:50 pm
There's a lot "Dina" doesn't know -- or sure acts like it, and an obvious and growingRead More amount she wishes the electorate didn't know about her failure to perform for PW.

Judi Bosworth is coming down the Tracks!!!! "ALL ABOARD"
Bob May 20, 2013 at 06:28 pm
I agree. This lot should be open all the time. Maybe there is a potential liability issue butRead More let's see if it can be worked out.
Nassau Taxpayer May 23, 2013 at 12:52 pm
Good spot for a multi-story municipal/LIRR garage, given the height of terrain behind it.
Jason May 8, 2013 at 01:05 pm
Mike you either work for the patch, or the web designer becouse it sucks. go back to the old webRead More site.
jonathan winant May 30, 2013 at 06:44 am
So the site stinks! Now start telling the staff what needs to be changed. I found that someRead More functions do not work well or at all with Internet Explorer. I do not enjoy being hit with excessive advertising type stories as the top stories. I would rather read about the type of community stories which other newspapers (on and off line0 do not cover. Patch is considered a Community newspaper. Overall the old design needed a little work but was far better then the new designed site.
HazyDavy May 8, 2013 at 01:20 pm
ditto. dislike the new format. i try to read the patch on the LIRR everyday.
Harriet Brown May 8, 2013 at 02:24 pm
I really don't like the new layout. It is much harder to read.
MJM May 8, 2013 at 04:52 pm
In the past, I was able to email specific articles. I'm unable to find that function any more. Am IRead More missing something, or is that function no longer available? If unavailable, I'm not happy!
Michael Lipson May 8, 2013 at 01:34 am
Exactly.

Sorry for the inconvenience...that's a bug that our IT team is working on!
Nassau Taxpayer May 21, 2013 at 03:42 pm
Is PW's council-person THAT clueless? Or, one could imagine a scenario: dissing the tracks now,Read More tanking the R/E market, buying behind the scenes, in preparation for going long on the tracks after being "convinced" via conce$$ion$. No "immediate family members" involved, of course. Think she'll even vote?

Jennifer Wilson-Pines May 2, 2013 at 03:33 pm
Having been whacked with a $70 ticket on a Friday at 4:55 down by Blumenfeld park because I let myRead More kids play for 5 extra minutes. That seems nothing but punitive and indicative of quotas because money must be raised but not via taxes. I also hear complaints from many other residents, particularly moms, who may run late by a few minute because they have to get a couple of little kids organized, and can't leave them somewhere to run back to feed a meter. Main st is under a parking blitz and either it's an over zealous brownie or direct orders to keep the cash flowing in. I avoid parking at meters now and Main St seems a lot less friendly.
jonathan winant May 2, 2013 at 04:50 pm
Many of you are not aware that the P.W. police do not have the right to ticket vehicles at expiredRead More meters! Tickets at expired meters are done by the Town of N. Hempstead. Over time parking at non-meter locations is enforced by the P.W. Police. That info came right from the Police Dept. Vent your discord with the proper agency.
Steve klyce May 2, 2013 at 08:48 pm
Point is, if TONH is responsible for problems in Port, then Port needs to do something about it!Read More Jennifer has a good point. Let's take back our town from North Hempstead. There are many more issues of abusive control than monitoring our parking meters. And you all know what I'm talking about.

I am in total agreement with the negative comments .
jonathan winant April 25, 2013 at 04:44 am
How many are receiving e-mail from the patch about someone else posting a comment and then when youRead More try to click the VIEW THE POST box it does not work? So far I have had this problem in the most widely used browser Internet Explorer. Chrome finally worked when I clicked the box.

Bryan Jay April 18, 2013 at 09:02 am
Yes, let's not forget that this woman not only was responsible for pushing through the OverlayRead More District scam, but more importantly had a personal interest in this program that was overlooked. Her husband owns Cow Bay Construction, and several other business's that potentially benefit from the drastic changes she has planned for our beautiful little town. When they are done, our town will no longer be a quaint village, but more like the newer towns that crop up all over. Now she is looking for access to the top post in North Hempstead?? Imagine the damage she can inflict there..... She needs to be stopped once and for all!
hank ratner May 3, 2013 at 12:33 pm
I believe Dina abstained from voting on the "model blocks" proposal.
Nassau Taxpayer May 3, 2013 at 12:56 pm
"Dina" spoke in favor of the SCAM OVERLAY DISTRICT, spoke dismissively of anyone whoRead More challenged it, then recused herself on the vote due to the obvious "immediate family member" and appearance of a conflict of interest. How much more USELESS could she be as a non-representative of her district or the overwhelming opposition to the SCAM OVERLAY DISTRICT?
