VILLAGE OF MANORHAVEN TO HOST WINTER FOOD DRIVE – KICKOFF EVENT ON FEBRUARY 18TH
Manorhaven, New York --- The Village of Manorhaven will kick off its Winter Food Drive on Saturday, February 18th at the Village Hall, 33 Manorhaven Boulevard, from 12 pm to 4 pm. Participants who bring in nonperishable food for the drive will receive free pizza and soda. Coloring books and crayons will be provided for children who participate.
“We identified a need in the community—each year, once the holidays have ended, our food pantries see a big drop in donations. We decided that we could work together as a Village to help those most in need during the hardest part of the year,” said Mayor Meehan.
Great donation ideas include canned soup, canned vegetables, canned tuna, chicken, and salmon, canned meals such as ravioli, Spaghetti-O’s, etc., boxes of pasta, macaroni & cheese, breakfast cereals, bags of rice, juice cartons, juice boxes, cookies, and crackers. Please do not donate food past its expiration date.
“We’re very happy to work with Sister Kathy at Our Lady of Fatima on this project. Every donation will stay within our community to help those who need it most,” said Jim Avena, Special Assistant to the Mayor. The Knights of Columbus, Council 1227 has enthusiastically joined in the effort. “In keeping with our mission, we look forward to helping the Village with this project,” said George Ramos, Grand Knight
The Winter Food Drive will run through March 31st. For more information contact the Village Hall at (516) 883-7000 or by email at info@manorhaven.org.
