Our next Parents' Council meeting will be held on Monday, February 6th at 9:30am at the Port Washington Library. This year’s meetings will offer our parents an opportunity to discuss topics that are being presented at the Board of Education Meetings.  This will be your chance to ask questions, share ideas and provide feedback on the department/school presentations that are being made to the Board of Education.
At our February 6th meeting we will be joined by the following Building Principals, who will field your questions on their presentations to the BOE:

  • Ira Pernick, Schreiber High School
  • Marilyn Rodahan, Weber Middle School
  • David Meoli, Sousa Elementary School Principal, representing all the elementary schools

If you were not able to attend the Board of Education meetings, all presentations are on the school district website: www.portnet.k12.ny.us under the “Board of Education” tab.
Parents' Council is an umbrella organization for all HSA and PTA organizations within the Port Washington school district. Our meetings are open to all and provide a convenient way for parents and community members to become informed about what's happening in the district. For more information, please contact Co-Presidents Linda Weil (weil@optonline.net) or Emily Beys (emilybeys@yahooo.com).

The Port Washington Public Library has been serving the community since 1892 when it was housed in a local family's front parlor. Today, the library is a modern service-oriented institution - named by a national consortium of professional librarians as one of the 50 best in the nation.

The library serves the Port Washington School District and is funded primarily by local taxes levied on real estate. There is no charge for school district residents to join. As the library is member of the Nassau Library System, the Port Washington Public Library card entitles residents to borrow materials from any public library in Nassau County and materials borrowed from other Nassau libraries may be returned here.
