Relay for Life: Saturday, June 15th at Schreiber Track

The co-chairs explain why they "Relay."

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life celebrates 12 years in Port Washington on Saturday, June 15th and this year, moves back to the Schreiber track on Campus Drive.

Relay For Life co-chairs, Nora Johnson and Lee Anne Vetrone-Timothy answer the question, "Why do WE Relay?"

We Relay to support each other. We have both lost family and friends to cancer. We have seen people in our lives struggle and work through the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. We have felt profound loss and cautious optimism. We have been there and we have seen. Knowing someone is there to support you is priceless.

I Relay because She does. She Relays because I do.

Not to miss this year at Relay for Life: the Opening Ceremony at 7 p.m., featuring student cancer survivors sharing their stories, the Survivor/Caregiver Lap and Reception at 7:45p.m. and the Luminaria Lighting Ceremony at 9 p.m., Steve Mariboli, PhD will share his caregiver story. Also look for performances by the Salem School Choir and local rock band, Lil Sammy and the Funked Up Daddies, the PWFD's Barbecue @ 10pm, raffles, terrific prizes, a giant Jenga contest and lots more!

Join your neighbors, bring family and friends...Don't want to stay overnight? No worries, there are many ways to get involved...start a team, join a team, purchase a Luminaria or two, buy a raffle ticket, donate a raffle item, be a volunteer, come soak up the energy, walk a few laps or walk a few miles, just come and become a part of this hope-filled event.
