BOE Meeting; 'Smashed'

BOE Meeting: The Port Washington Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Administration Building. Get agenda here.

Rail Road Meeting: LIRR is holding a public hearing Aug. 27 on plans to restore half-hourly service on the Port Washington Branch on weekends, and extend weekend service. The hearing starts at 5 p.m. at MTA Headquarters, 347 Madison Ave., N.Y., 5th floor Board Room. Knickerbocker Cup Opening Ceremony: 
The public is invited to the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club Aug. 28 for the opening ceremony of the Knickerbocker Cup, an international match race event where 10 teams compete for a chance at the 2013 Congressional Cup. For more information go online to: http://www.knickerbockercup.org.

At The Library Tuesday: The film, “Smashed." Kate and Charlie Hannah’s marriage is built on their mutual love of alcohol. That bond is tested when she decides to get sober. Director James Ponsoldt scripted with Susan Burke, drawing on the latter’s experiences with alcoholism. Mary Elizabeth and Aaron Paul play Kate and Charlie; Octavia Spencer, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally co-star. Recommended for adults. Showtime: 7:30 p.m.
