Sept. 11 Memorial Services; Conversations

Happenings in and around Port Washington on Wednesday.

The Town of North Hempstead is sponsoring a Sept. 11 memorial service to be held at Clark Botanic Garden, 193 I.U. Willets Road in Albertson on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. The service is open to all. Officials say the occasion provides an opportunity for the community to reflect on the tragic events of 12 years ago. More info

The Village of Manorhaven will remember on Wednesday those who lost their lives and courageously helped rescue others on 9/11. There will be an unveiling of an artifact obtained from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, a piece of the beam from the World Trade Center. Village Hall, 5 p.m.

Learn how to make photos with perfect exposure on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Port Washington Public Library. Discussion is led by the Photography Club of Long Island, which invites camera buffs of all levels to a presentation by Yvonne Berger.
