The Port Washington Sail and Power Squadron
is again offering the United States Power Squadrons’ safe boating course.
This 8 week course will begin on Tuesdays October 01 from 7:30 to 9PM at the Port Washington Yacht Club, 1 Yacht Club Drive, Port Washington.
The USPS course covers boating fundamentals for all boaters from the operator of a small outboard or paddle craft to the skipper or passenger in a family cruiser or sailboat.
It includes boat handling, equipment requirements, navigation rules, aids to navigation, chart and compass fundamentals, basic piloting and chart plotting techniques.
Instructors are all very experienced boating members of Port Washington Sail and Power Squadron.
A USPS certificate, recognized in all states, is issued to
those who successfully complete the course. Personal water craft certification is also included. Many insurance companies offer discounts to boat owners who complete the course. Youths under age 16 may attend only if accompanied by an adult at all sessions. Instruction is free. But there is a materials fee of $60 payable on the first day. Tools for chart plotting and piloting will also be available for sale.
