Acclaimed writer Nicholas Pileggi recently visited Paul D. Schreiber High School in the Port Washington School District for an open forum with students in the school’s film and screenwriting class.

Mr. Pileggi, who worked as a journalist for the Associated Press specializing in crime reporting, is a prominent writer whose works include screenplays for the movies “Goodfellasand “Casino,” both of which were directed by Martin Scorsese. He spoke with students about how he broke into the movie business, his writing experiences, the importance of good storytelling in today’s society, and also fielded student questions at the event.
