AGES' Free "Options For Our Aging World Family & Caregiver Resource Fair" Coming to Port Washington

Port Washington, NY; May 6, 2013 – The Association of Generational Experts for Seniors (AGES) is hosting its first FREE “Options For Our Aging World Family & Caregiver Resource Fair” on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, located at 12 Franklin Avenue in Port Washington, NY. Taking place from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., this comprehensive event will provide caregivers managing the health and well being of today’s seniors with a one-stop-forum for gathering vital information, products and services to help support senior care, wellness and quality of life. “In today’s world of longer life expectancies, having the tools, knowledge and services for supporting senior health and quality lifestyles has become that much more paramount, especially with more insurance companies putting more emphasis on proactive health and wellness,” says Rita Medaglio Barrera, AGES Chairperson. “As we enjoy the benefits of our seniors living longer, many families, especially those of the sandwich generation, are becoming caregivers or are in need of professional care for their beloved seniors. Our ‘Options For Our Aging World Family & Caregiver Resource Fair’ is designed to bring helpful tools, resources and expert professionals under one umbrella and to support the many families and caregivers who are actively working to ensure senior care and wellness for our aging community.” Kicking off the event will be Keynote Speaker and Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman, who will discuss the Town of North Hempstead’s Project Independence program, which brings together local health care providers, human service agencies, social, educational and recreational programs, as well as local businesses to supports seniors who need assistance in order to remain in theirs homes. “The goals and objectives of what the AGES Resource Fair looks to accomplish for seniors is clearly in line with those of our very own Project Independence program in North Hempstead,” says Supervisor Kaiman. “Project Independence encourages seniors to ‘age in place’ by offering them nursing services, educational programs, social and recreational activities and more. The great exhibitors at this fair clearly reflect our vision for senior life in North Hempstead.” Throughout the fair, attendees will meet with more than 50 senior healthcare service and product providers that play an integral role in supporting individuals who are responsible for managing senior day-to-day health and wellness.
