Family Fun Nature Programs at Sands Point Preserve

With warming temperatures on the horizon, now is a great time to bring the kids for a visit to The Sands Point Preserve, and enjoy its fun and educational nature programs. These events give visitors the chance to see live animal presentations, learn more about the night sky, and more. Young scientists may also want to sign up for a series of weekly enrichment programs, held on Wednesdays, beginning in March.

Here are some of the highlights of the upcoming nature programs coming to the Preserve.

What makes winter different from the other seasons?  It is all about temperature, light, and food.  In this live animal presentation, we’ll take a close up look at the animals that leave Long Island as the days get shorter and the temperatures drop – and those that take a long winter’s rest or just slow down until spring.
