Port Washington Play Troupe is proud to announce the 2014 Children’s Show, a revival of The Emperor’s Tales, two stories by Hans Christian Andersen (“The Emperor’s New Clothes” and “The Emperor and the Nightingale”). Performances will be May 16-18, 2014 at St. Stephen’s Church.

The Children’s Show first presented The Emperor’s Tales, adapted for the stage by Tony Traguardo and returning director Diana vonRoeschlaub, in 1994. The production was so successful, it toured the UK in 1995.

“The original production of The Emperor’s Tales marked such a proud moment for Play Troupe,” says vonRoeschlaub. “Now we’re excited to bring these wonderful, funny, touching stories to a new generation of children and families.”

The Children’s Show is intergenerational, with roles available for performers grades four and up. Teens, parents and grandparents are welcome.

Auditions will take place Tuesday, March 25 for 4th/5th graders and their adult family members and on Thursday, March 27 for middle school/high school students and all interested adults. Callbacks will be on Friday, March 28 for all ages. All auditions/callbacks will be held 6-9pm in the Parish Hall at St. Stephen’s Church, 9 Carlton Ave. in Port Washington.

There is a modest participation fee to help cover production expenses (all staff are volunteers). Scholarships are available for those in need to increase access to as many families as possible.
