As part of a year-long celebration of the Golden Era of Radio, Port Washington Play Troupe partnered with community public radio station WCWP 88.1 FM, operated by LIU Post, to produce a three-part series of live-broadcast radio plays with songs from the era. That series concludes with "Casablanca" this coming Friday, May 23, 2014.

"Casablanca" will be performed at 2:00pm and broadcast in front of a live studio audience from the Hillwood Recital Hall, at the Tilles Center at LIU Post (720 Northern Blvd., Brookville, NY 11548). Audiences can listen to the performance on the air at 88.1 FM, or live-stream the performance through WCWP.org.

Featuring the 1944 radio drama script based on the famous film, “Casablanca” tells the story of nightclub owner Rick Blaine and his bittersweet reunion with his once-great love, Ilsa Lund. Ilsa has fled to Morocco with her resistance-leader husband to secure visas and escape to America. But can Ilsa and Rick escape their past? Songs will include the 1940s classics "As Time Goes By," "You'll Never Know," "Caravan" and "Besame Mucho."

Audio recordings of the first two radio dramas in this inaugural series ("The Maltese Falcon," performed in March, and "The Thin Man," performed in April) are available for online listening here:
