PortFest Unites Port Washington Community

Students, faculty, staff and community residents were in lively spirits on May 17 when they attended the third annual PortFest Music, Arts and Community Festival, held at Paul D. Schreiber High School in the Port Washington School District.

The event was sponsored by Helping Enrich the Arts (HEARTS), a nonprofit organization that supports, promotes and enriches the creative arts in the Port Washington public schools. The organization has been able to fund numerous grants for new arts programs and initiatives for the district. This has been made possible through funds raised at PortFest each year thanks to the generosity of valued partners and community residents.

The festival featured a variety of entertainment, including art demonstrations by local artists, student musical performances and art shows, live local music, and a number of interactive activities, from face-painting to creating light-up paper lanterns, clay pets and tie-dye clothing. Visitors also enjoyed concession stand treats and participated in the event’s silent auction, which offered a number of prizes and unique gift packages. PortFest once again united the Port Washington community, all for a worthwhile cause.
