Art Seminar Set For Friday

Oct. 25 event planned at the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury.

The Town of North Hempstead Tourism Development Corporation will co-host this week a free art exhibition and seminar featuring the work of artists Robert Carter, Emmett Wigglesworth, Mario Tucci and Donna Moraff.

The Oct. 25 event runs from 8:30-12:30 a.m. at the Yes We Can Community Center, 141 Garden St., in Westbury.

From 8:30-10:30 a.m., a breakfast seminar, "The Business of Art," will discuss funding sources for artists, nonprofits and entrepreneurs.

An art exhibition is planned from 10:30-12:30 p.m., to include oil painting demonstrations.

Guest speakers include Lisa Robb, executive director of the New York State Council on the Arts; Peter Cobb, program officer for the New York Foundation of the Arts; Roslyn Goldmacher, president and CEO of the Long Island Development Corporation.

Town of North Hempstead Councilwoman Viviana Russell will emcee the event.

The project is a collaboration of the Town of North Hempstead, the Long Island Development Corp/Long Island Small Business Assistance Corp., the Art League of Long Island, ArtsBuild New Cassel and the BTDC.
