Kaiman Honored Thursday in Port Washington

Business leaders, elected officials recognize former Town of North Hempstead supervisor.

Former North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman was recognized this week for his 10 years of service and support to the Port Washington community.

Local businesses and residents turned out Thursday for the annual Port Washington Chamber of Commerce Installation of Officers Dinner at Ayhan's Fish Kabab on Main Street.

Kaiman was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the COC at the event.

During Kaiman's tenure, the Town of North Hempstead created the 311 call center and the Project Independence senior citizen program.

Port Washington residents thanked Kaiman for his support of local events such as Harbor Fest and Pride in Port.

Leo Cimini, Chairman of the Sandminer's Monument, Inc. thanked the former supervisor for turning the idea of a Sandminer's monument in Port Washington into a reality for all to enjoy, according to a town press release.

Since resigning last month, Kaiman has assumed duties as a special advisor to Gov. Andrew Cuomo for Long Island Storm Recovery and as Chairman of the Nassau Interim Finance Committee.
