The season of Lent - the traditional period of penance and self reflection begins today - with Ash Wednesday.
Ash Wednesday is celebrated with services in which the faithful are marked with an ash cross on the forehead.
The season of Lent ends with Good Friday and Easter.
The Mass schedule at St. Peters of Alcantara is: 8:30 AM Mass, 12:00 noon Mass, 4:30 p.m. Service only, 7:30 p.m. Service only.
The Mass schedule at Our Lady of Fatima is 8 a.m. Morning Mass, 12 p.m. Prayer Service, 4 p.m. Prayer Service, 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service; 7 p.m. Spanish Mass. Ashes will be available for those who cannot attend Mass or Prayer Service.
Ash Wednesday Service will be held at 7:17 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior.
St. Stephens Episcopal Church Port Washington will hold Ash Wednesday service at 8 p.m.
