Oak Tree to be Removed Near LIRR Station

Residents have been notified by the Town of North Hempstead that an oak tree located to the right of the entrance of the Long Island Rail Road Station needs to be removed as soon as possible, according to a statement from the Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington group.

In the notice, the town's arborist report states that the tree poses an "imminent danger of failure."

No specific date has been given for removal of the tree. A TONH representative said the tree has been placed on an extraction list and will be removed sometime this season.

Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington will be in contact with the TONH regarding replanting as part of the group's tree-1-1 notification initiative.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the removal of the tree or replanting is encouraged to call 311.
