Port Washington Community Chest Grant Applications Available

Eligible nonprofits may apply.

Nonprofit organizations that provide services to the Port Washington community, take note. The 2013 grant applications through the Port Washington Community Chest are now available.

The Community Chest has grant funds for 501(c)3 nonprofits that provide general operating support or specific program support, but not for the purchase of furniture, fixtures or equipment. The application is available on-line at www.portchest.org or by calling the Community Chest office at (516) 767-2121. The deadline for submissions is Monday, April 1, 2013.

The Community Chest evaluates each application based on the need for the organization’s services in Port Washington, the number of Port Washington residents served, the organization’s need for funds, the ability of the applicant to deliver the services, and the fiscal management and stability of the organization. Applications are reviewed and interviews are conducted in April and May by a committee of the Community Chest. Organizations are notified of results in June 2013.

The total amount of money the Community Chest can allocate in grants is based on the amount of money it raises in its annual fundraising campaign, which is indicated by the “Red Feather” in front of the Community Chest building and the Long Island Rail Road Station.

Founded in 1949, the Community Chest of Port Washington enables non-profit organizations to achieve successful outcomes. It raises money from individuals and companies and then distributes grants to non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of Port Washington residents. Grants are awarded to non-profit organizations that provide a wide range of services. The Community Chest also provides office space at below-market rates to non-profit organizations to help them achieve their missions.

Particularly out of line since it's a shared-use puddle for camp groups splashing, not a good poolRead More venue for individuals swimming.

The TONH should be under some investigation for charging such a high fee for a very short summerRead More season. You lose most of june and the pool closes in early September. Better off paying as you go just purchase the parking permit which is good at the Manorhaven Pool and the Harbor beach. Stop buying a season pass in protest to the yearly excessive price increase.

And speaking of investigations, what's up with Jonny's Roslyn CC fiasco?

Contact the Village and the water district, it's probably a problem with a pipe on your street.
