Resurfacing Work Underway on Beacon Hill Road Tuesday

Expect detour between Crescent and Summit Roads this week.

Roadwork is underway on Beacon Hill Road in Port Washington to fix a bumpy situation.

Nassau Department of Public Works crews are currently on the scene grinding a large section of the road between Crescent and Summit Roads — previously a pothole-ridden stretch that caused for a less-than-smooth ride.

Patch began questioning local officials Aug. 6 regarding the situation on Beacon Hill Road, including video of cars swerving into oncoming traffic to avoid potholes and uneven pavement in the area.

See the full Patch coverage of the situation here.

The work is expected to continue until at least Wednesday with fresh asphalt expected to be applied either late Tuesday or Wednesday, according to a DPW worker directing traffic Tuesday.
