This Weekend: Halloween on Main; Film Festival Event

A few happenings in and around Port Washington this weekend.

Halloween On Main: The annual event runs Saturday Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at  Sunset Park, next to the Town Dock. Entertainment by Bach to Rock and then trick-or-treating up and down Main St. Free Halloween candy bags for first 300 kids.

Spooky Walk:
 Ghosts, ghouls, goblins, swamp monsters and their gruesome sidekicks will prowl the grounds of Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson. That's when North Hempstead's Spooky Walk 2013 will unleash a witch's brew of fear and fright upon all who enter. Call 311 for all the spooky details. Event runs from through Oct. 27. Admission $5. Senior Halloween Bash: Sponsored by the Town of North Hempstead. The event runs Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Clinton G. Martin Park. Pizza, coffee, music, dancing and games scheduled. More information here.

Gold Coast Film Festival Event: The celebrated writer of Bright Lights, Big City will be at the Port Washington Library for an intimate onstage discussion, "A Conversation With Jay McInerney," looking back at the making of the film version of his celebrated novel: the times, the pre-production, the production, the cast, the reaction, the aftermath and more. he event runs in conjunction with the Gold Coast Film Festival. Start time: Oct. 26 at 1:30 p.m.

Live Music: The 9th Annual Celebration of Long Island Talent: Hosted by WFUV’s John Platt, and featuring Robert Bruey, Claudia Jacobs and The Folk Goddesses. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Start time: 3 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Port Washington Library.
