Village Club Celebrates Special Anniversary

This year marks the 20th anniversary of The Village Club of Sands Point. And the club is celebrating in a big way on Saturday, with festivities running from 12-6 p.m.

Festivities will include live music on the Great Lawn, all day, children’s rides, food and wines from around the world and more.

The event is open to club members as well as Sands Point residents.

Once the home of the Guggenheims, the estate was built in 1916 and features an Italian Renaissance-style mansion. In later years, it became the IBM Country Club until it was purchased in 1994 by the Village of Sands Point.

The property boasts exquisite views of the Long Island Sound and 210 acres of lawns and gardens.

“The staff and I are very pleased to be part of this moment in history and we’re looking forward to serving our community in the next 20 years,” said Frank Benzakour, the club's general manager.

And without giving details, he hinted that there would be more to look forward to in the near future.

“Stay tuned for more positive changes in the months," he said.

Reservations are a must, and the special anniversary price is $20 per person. The rain date for the big event is Sunday, May 18.
