Former Sands Point Mayor Dies at 95: Former Sands Point Mayor Leonard Wurzel died Nov. 16 at the age of 95. Appointed Sands Point mayor in 1989, Wurzel served in that position until his retirement in 2011. Before his tenure as mayor, he served on the Sands Point Board of Trustees and its board of zoning appeals.
