2012 Port Summer Show Car Wash & Tag Sale

On Saturday, July 14th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the cast, crew and pit of the Port Washington Summer Show are running a car wash and tag sale at St. Stephen's Church, located on Main Street (opposite the Library).

This annual fund-raising event is one of the main revenue sources for the Summer Show and, like the show, has become a favorite tradition in town. Enthusiastic student performers and musicians who began rehearsing in late June for the August 2nd opening of "My Favorite Year", this year's Port Summer Show production, will be setting aside their scripts and scores for the day and hand washing cars and selling unique items donated for the tag sale. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Don't forget to stop by if you are in town this coming Saturday! All proceeds go to the production.

"My Favorite Year" is a hilarious musical comedy about a live television show in the 1950's. It is based on the 1982 film which fictionalizes a real-life incident in which a faded, Errol Flynn like movie star is the guest on a live comedy show, a la Sid Caesar's "Your Show of Shows". The production features the music of Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, who are the team behind other Broadway hits such as "Once on This Island", "Ragtime", and "Seussical".

This year's show features a cast of 57 Port Washington students and a 30-piece orchestra and will run from Thursday, August 2nd, to Sunday, August 5th, in the air conditioned Schreiber High School Auditorium. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 PM, and the Sunday matinee is at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids, and will be available at the door. Senior citizens get in free on opening night!
