Art Reception Hosted by Panama Hatties Restaurant, Featuring the Paintings of Rachelle Krieger to Benefit the North Shore Land Alliance

Come in from the cold and celebrate the beauty of the North Shore of Long Island.  On Thursday, February 4th, 2010 from 6pm-8pm, Panama Hatties Restaurant in Huntington will host an art reception featuring the paintings of Rachelle Krieger, a nationally acclaimed artist who works and resides in Port Washington.

The paintings on display include a selection of large oil paintings and small watercolors that reflect the beauty of nature on Long Island. For the past decade, Krieger has painted at various sites on the North Shore including Old Westbury Gardens, the Shu Swamp Preserve, Cedarmere, and the Sands Point Preserve. Krieger's paintings reflect her ongoing study and love of nature, and she has been especially drawn to capturing the quickly disappearing, untouched preserve-land on Long Island.  Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of artwork will benefit the North Shore Land Alliance, a land trust formed to protect and preserve the green spaces, farmlands, wetlands groundwater and historical sites of Long Island's North Shore for the enjoyment and benefit of future generations and the protection and enhancement of quality of life.

Krieger's work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and abroad, and is currently featured in a solo exhibit at Susan Eley Fine Art in NYC until February 26th. Her work was shown at the Port Washington Public Library in a 2007 solo show titled "Expressions of Nature".

The reception is open to the public and refreshments will be served. Please rsvp to Panama Hatties at 631-351-1727. Panama Hatties is located at 872 E. Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station.
