Port resident Mark Underwood uses electric violins and an ensemble of technologies to re-imagine tunes such as “If I Loved You,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” and Irving Berlin’s “Reaching for the Moon.” As early as the mid-1960s, some critics said that popular music’s turn toward folk rock genres signaled the death of the American Songbook.
