Arts & Entertainment

It’s Country Fair Time at the Cow Neck Historical Society

The buildings and grounds of the Sands-Willets House will be open to the public for a day of fun, games, entertainment, educational tours, browsing, shopping, socializing and good eating!

Sampawamps Creek will play the tunes we love to hear as they entertain us during the day.  And members of the cast of the musical, Fair Liberty's Call will be with us to perform songs from the musical's score and talk with fair-goers about the show.  Set in 1775, the play interweaves a riveting plot about the drama and intrigue of the American Revolution with captivating music from that era.

Children can have a great time at the petting zoo and participate in the kinds of games kids played in earlier times.  There will be face painting, a real fire truck to explore, pony rides, Civil War re-enactors, craft demonstrations and more.

Shoppers can explore stalls selling used books, antiques and antique tools, gently-used jewelry, and find good prices on craft items, used household goods, collectors' coins and stamps and works of art.  There will be home-baked peach pies, along with other baked delights for sale.  This year, the society is unveiling its new mascot, The Cow Neck "Cool Cow," whose image can be found on t-shirts and BBQ aprons, which will also be on sale at the fair.  As in prior years, raffle tickets will be on sale for gift certificates to many of Port Washington's best restaurants.  A refreshment stand will serve up corn on the cob, watermelon, hot dogs, cotton candy and other tasty edibles.
