WAC Lighting to Sponsor Third Annual Asian American Festival in Town of North Hempstead, New York.
Committed to supporting ethnic diversity in the community and in the workplace, WAC Lighting President Shelley Wald has announced that the company will sponsor the Asian American Festival, a beach-front gala of food, folk art and performance from China, Japan, India, Korea and Pakistan. WAC Lighting, a leading global manufacturer and designer of decorative and architectural lighting, will soon be moving its headquarters from Garden City to the Industrial Park on Harbor Park Drive in Port Washington, New York.
The Festival will be held on Saturday, May 19 at North Hempstead Beach Park, the Town of North Hempstead’s 60-acre beachfront playground on West Shore Road in Port Washington. The event will run from noon to 6:00 p.m.

“As North Hempstead’s cultural landscape grows increasingly diverse, I believe the opportunity to experience some of our neighbors’ social mainstays and practices can only serve to enhance the Town’s quality of life,” said Supervisor Jon Kaiman. “We are proud to sponsor the Annual Asian American Festival for the next three years,” explained WAC Lighting President Shelley Wald. “We use the phrase ‘Responsible Lighting’ as the brand standard that reflects our holistic approach to business. This approach encompasses a deep commitment to eco-friendly manufacturing, energy saving lighting technologies and altruism while supporting goodwill and diversity in the community and in the workplace.”
In addition to sponsoring the Asian American Festival, WAC also supports the Long Island Science Fair (recently held at Commack High School), West Hempstead Rotary, Gift of Life International, LaGuardia Community College, Alliance for Smiles, Island Harvest and other important charities and organizations on the local and global levels.

“In June, we are moving our headquarters to Port Washington,” continued Ms. Wald, “We are looking forward to becoming a trusted member of the North Hempstead business community.”
The Asian American Festival will feature performances and folk art such as Japanese Taiko drumming, traditional Chinese lion dancers, Indian henna tattooing and a Korean Hanbok fashion show. The festival will also showcase a mélange of culinary delights indigenous to Asian cultures from across the globe.
Admission is $5 per vehicle. The gates open at 11:30 a.m. and the ceremonies begin at 12:30 p.m.
