Final Night for Cinema on the Bay This Saturday

Bring the family to see "American Graffiti," and arrive early for a yoga stretch.

Cinema on the Bay presents its last movie of the season Saturday at Sunset Park at the Town Dock, where movie lovers of all ages can enjoy a film in the great outdoors. Admission is free.

Saturday's movie is "American Graffiti," the 1973 film by a newcomer at the time, George Lucas, who was 28 when the movie premiered. In this coming-of-age story, which takes place in 1962, a group of teens meet up at Burger City for one final night of fun before some of the friends take off for college.

Produced by Francis Ford Coppola and Gary Kurtz, the film stars Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Cindy Williams (of "Laverne and Shirley" fame), and Paul Le Mat. The film also features Mackenzie Phillips, Wolfman Jack, Harrison Ford, Suzanne Somers, Kathleen Quinlan and more.

"It is a very good movie, funny, tough, unsentimental," wrote Roger Greenspun in The New York Times when the film first opened. "It is full of marvelous performances from actors (especially Candy Clark, Richard Dreyfuss, and Cindy Williams) hardly known for previous screen credits."

Rated PG, the film will be shown at 8:30 p.m. There's an added bonus for those who arrive early. Yoga Life will run a free 20-minute yoga session beginning at 8:30 p.m.
