'Instrument Petting Zoo' Is On for Friday

A program for children of all ages.

The "instrument petting zoo" is on for Friday. Billed as a fun way to expose children to the music of a concert band, the event takes place at the  at Sunset Park on Friday, July 15, at 7:45 p.m.

Originally slated for last week, but canceled because of rain, the event will include the Port Washington Summer Community Band's "Young Persons Meet the Instruments of the Band" concert, which begins at 8:15 p.m. Prior to the show, for kids to explore and learn about the many and varied instruments of the concert band.

The band will perform pieces highlighting various instruments and styles of music. In addition, six children will be given the chance to conduct the band, said Mark Brenner, the band's conductor.
