Local Photographer Jessica Eppich Sees 'Faces'

A collection of her photography,'Faces' is now at the Port Washington Public Library.

In 2010, Jessica Eppich, a Port Washington photographer, made a point of snapping pictures of everyday objects that just so happened to resemble faces. Her work, in a collection appropriately titled "Faces," is now on display at the .

"I would see faces in things, and I thought it would be interesting to document them in photography," Eppich said during a recent Saturday at a reception for her exhibit.

Her collection includes photos of  a hamburgers and sausages in a pan, a tiny pothole in the street, and a pie.  As one spectator noted, "it's a unique approach to photography. I've seen faces in everyday objects sometimes, I wish I had thought of this."

Eppich grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio.  Her interest in art began there, which led her to study fashion design at Kent University and receive a BFA from Cleveland State University.  She works with watercolors, oil paints and bronze sculpting and a variety of other mediums.  She began photography in 2003, and focuses on photographing nature and still-life objects.  She currently resides in Port Washington with her fiance and fellow artist Gregory Brenner.

Jessica's work was featured last year in the magazine Surrender to the Flow.  She also featured an exhibit at Empire State Studios last year.  Learn more about her work here.
