Nearby: An Evening of Award-Winning Short Films Thursday

Furman Film Series continues at the Great Neck Arts Center.

Before they were making blockbusters and winning Academy Awards, filmmakers like Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton and Martin Scorsese all got their start making short films.

On Thursday, join the Gold Coast International Film Festival for this special Furman screening of a variety of quality short films from up and coming filmmakers who may one day join their ranks.

The event features award winners and audience favorites from the first two years of the Gold Coast International Film Festival, these shorts run the gamut from comedy to drama; sci-fi to animation, all wrapped up in 90 minutes.

The event includes a question and answer session with GCIFF shorts curator and short filmmaker Alexandra Gil, who will discuss the films and the upcoming short films programs for this year's festival.

Screenings take place at The Great Neck Arts Center, 115 Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. for subscribers and 7:15 p.m. for individual ticket holders.
