Photographer George Kalinsky Exhibits Work at Port Washington Library

See his works at the Main Gallery through Oct. 30.

Photographer George Kalinsky is exhibiting his work in the Port Washington Public Library’s Main Gallery beginning Tuesday, and remian through Oct. 30. On Thursday, the Port Washington Library Foundation is hosting a reception for the artist at 7 p.m. And at 8 p.m., Kalinksy will talk about his work and career.

Kalinsky has earned an international reputation for having captured some of the most important faces, places and events in sports, entertainment and politics.

His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the International Center for Photography, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum, and in a spectacular billboard display throughout Times Square, drawing the attention of the media throughout the world and the millions of people who pass by them each day. And according to the library, one of Kalinsky’s photos of Michael Jordan was recently given as a birthday gift to President Obama by Michelle Obama.

Among his many awards and distinctions are the 2001 International Photographer of the Year award from the photography industry (PMDA), the 2010 National Arts Club Medal of Honor, and his induction into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame.
