'Shrek The Musical' Opens Thursday

This family-friendly show runs Thursday through Sunday in Port Washington.

"Shrek the Musical" opens Thursday in the air-conditioned Schreiber High School auditorium, at 7:30 p.m. 

With music written by Port’s own Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, the show is based on the 2001 DreamWorks film Shrek and William Steig's 1990 book Shrek.

Directed and choreographed by Jason Summers, this family-friendly musical features a grumpy ogre, sassy princess, talking donkey and an array of loveable storybook characters.
The show stars Oren Barasch as Shrek; Julia Bain as Princess Fiona; Nate Krantz as Donkey; Liam Marsigliano as Lord Farquaad; Ashley Larsen as Dragon; and Maxine Timm, Gabriella Robinson, Ariel Waldman, Emily Weinstein as

Schreiber graduate Solomon Hoffman conducts the orchestra pit. Sets were designed by Schreiber alum Nick Gardella.

"Shrek" runs Thursday through Sunday  7:30 p.m. at Schreiber High School; Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets: $10; $5 for kids under 12. Senior citizens admitted free Thursday, Aug. 1
