Join LIAF for Holiday Spirits Open House

LIAF (the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation) invites the community to a Holiday Spirits open house on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 3 PM to 7 PM at LIAF headquarters: 5 Channel Drive, Port Washington.

Sponsored by Harbor House Assisted Living, the event provides one-stop convenience for those wishing to gather a wealth of senior care information, while also ‘shopping for a cause.’

The Holiday Spirits open house will feature informational exhibit tables staffed by local elder care professionals representing assisted living facilities, home care agencies, and more; a wine tasting provided by Bottles Wine and Spirits of Port Washington; and a Pampered Chef demonstration and sale, featuring “Dave the Pampered Chef Guy,” with 15% of sales benefiting Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation’s programs and services for families affected by Alzheimer’s disease here on Long Island.

“LIAF is mindful that this season can be a challenging time for families trying to balance holiday preparation with the care of an aging relative,” stated LIAF Director of Early-Stage Programs, Alana Rosenstein, LMSW.  “With the Holiday Spirits open house, we are combining a forum to learn about senior-care local resources, with an easy and convenient holiday shopping opportunity.

The event is also a way for community members to support LIAF through their purchases, at no additional cost to them.”   Those who cannot attend the December 6th event, but wish to support LIAF through a Pampered Chef purchase, can do so by shopping online through a link on the website www.liaf.org.   Some 50,000 Long Islanders are living with Alzheimer’s disease.
