Former Elbow Room Chef to Take Over Restaurant at The Blue Inn

Mark Gray will cook at the Blue starting in May.

The restaurant at the Blue Inn in East Marion has changed hands once again.

Mark Gray, the former chef of the Elbow Room in Jamesport, has partnered with Eugene Gluck to reopen the restaurant, which was under scrutiny by Southold Town last fall for not conforming to code.

The new place, which is set for a soft opening on May 16, is called Gray’s at the Blue and will feature Irish pub fare that Gray is known for — he’s from Ireland.

“We’ll also try to do some quiet music at the Tiki bar outside,” Gluck said. “We don’t intend to do anything loud.”

What do you think of this East Marion spot? Let us know in the comments below.

Irish Pub with fiddles of Irish sound is anything but loud. But then decibels are in the Ears of the beholder. WIsh this venture good luck a nice Irish Pub would be a welcome addition to the North Fork.

Will be nice to have the Irish in the 'hood, and trust they will comply with current zoning regs. As an EM resident I tend to think Joe Insider is right, though.

In the short run, it would do Mr. Gray and Mr. Gluck well to acquaint themselves with the zoning requirements specific to The Blue that limit or restrict allowable uses of the restaurant concession, that are currently in force. Apparently, unfortunately, the previous tenant did not or relied on information that may have been supplied by the absentee landlord(s), contrary to written agreements they have with the town in addition to the code. This location is not a commercial business in a commercially zoned district but rather a limited use facility in a residential zone. Jim Cope Eastmarion

Looking forward to a special place to dine in East Marion. Let's see how these fellows progress, it would be pleasant to be able to stroll home after supper on a summer's eve. Eugene is a pleasant, local North Fork gentleman that we can support I hope?
